Privacy Prams

 After listening carefully to families and the healthcare teams who support them, it became clear that the journey to the mortuary is often one of the hardest moments. For some, it can feel very public and overwhelming at a time when privacy and dignity matter more than ever. In response, we introduced our Privacy Prams to help make this part of care a little gentler.

Privacy Prams provide a safe, dignified and discreet way for babies and children to be transported within hospital settings. They can be used when moving from the ward to the mortuary, or between departments, short walks in the hospital gardens and give families an option that feels more respectful and less clinical. This isn’t about replacing existing processes, and it’s never mandatory. It’s about giving families a choice at an incredibly sensitive time.

Each pram is thoughtfully designed and includes a double hood to increase privacy, a small “Respect My Privacy” sticker to help protect families’ space, and a fully wipeable insert that meets strict infection control requirements. Every pram is carefully assembled by our team, with attention to safety, compliance and detail, which means each one takes time to make.

We’re able to offer these prams to hospitals thanks to the generosity of our supporters. A Privacy Pram costs £500, which covers the pram itself, specialist fittings, infection control compliance inserts, and delivery to the hospital. Supporters can fundraise or donate to sponsor a pram, which will then be allocated to a hospital on our waiting list where it’s needed most at that time.
